Why it happens
Anger is what grief does when something unfair happened. It's fast, it's energising, and it hurts less than sorrow โ so the body reaches for it first.
What it might mean
You're usually right that it was unfair. Anger is grief with its fists up, protecting the softer thing underneath.
Healthy ways to respond
- Move it physically first: push a wall for twenty seconds, walk fast, wring out a towel.
- Say the unfair thing out loud to nobody. Full volume is allowed.
- Decide nothing important while it's still hot.
Grounding
Stamp both feet on the floor, slowly, ten times. Anger wants somewhere to land.
