🙈 Ashamed
Why it happens
Shame arrives when you believe you're grieving wrong — too loudly, too long, too little, or about the “wrong” kind of loss.
What it might mean
There is no wrong kind of loss and no correct duration. Shame is other people's timelines living in your head.
Healthy ways to respond
- Ask whose voice the shame is using. It's almost never yours.
- Find one person or space where your grief is treated as normal.
- Replace “I should be over it” with “I'm where I am.”
Grounding
Say your own name and one true, neutral fact about today, out loud.
