🪢 Scared to move on
Why it happens
If the pain fades, some part of you fears the person fades with it. So staying in pain feels like loyalty.
What it might mean
You're not choosing between healing and remembering. Carrying them forward is the third option nobody mentions.
Healthy ways to respond
- Build a deliberate way to remember — a date, a ritual, a place — so you don't have to use pain as the bookmark.
- Notice: the love has never once depended on how much it hurt today.
- Let one good day happen as an experiment. See if anything is actually lost.
Grounding
Hold something of theirs, or picture it. Say: “This comes with me.”
